Figure Eight Island is located on the southeast coast of North Carolina, in the northern coastal section of New Hanover County. The five mile stretch only has one road onto the island, which is manned by a 24 hour security house at the bridge.

The area is easily accessible, with I-40 coming in from the west, Highway 17 from the north, and the Wilmington International Airport for longer treks. Driving north on Hwy 17 from Wilmington, turn right on Porter's Neck Road, veer off to the right when it hits Edgewater, and follow that road to the security station at the bridge. The blue arrow below indicates where 310 N. Beach Road is; As you can see, it is at a wide portion of the beach and at a center between the ocean and the marsh.
